West Grey Library’s Fall Book Sale and new Card Campaign

West Grey Library Fall Book Sale - 2025

The West Grey Library’s popular book sale returns, starting Friday, October 17 from 1 to 7 pm at the Durham Town Hall and continuing through Saturday, October 18 from 9 am to 4 pm. This sale is a major fundraiser for the Library, and offers a vast selection of gently used items, including books for all ages, puzzles, DVDs, books on CD, and more. Arrive early for best selection — and the West Grey Library sends out a big thank-you to all donors.

Funds are used to enhance the collections and activities at all West Grey branches: Durham, Neustadt and Ayton, as well as community outreach. Funds raised support monthly craft kits, WiFi-to-go, summer reading programs, and Wonder books for children to name a few. Payment is by donation, payable by cash.

And, to mark October as Canadian Library Month, the Library is holding a new card campaign. If you’ve let your card expire, you’re new to the area, or you are ready to take advantage of all the programs and services available through the Library without charge, you can drop into any branch and sign up, using your photo ID. There’s a new-card bingo and a chance to guess the number of items — miniature books, candy, stickers and bookmarks — in a jar in each of the branches. Whoever guesses closest to the right number at each branch wins a loot bag!

For more information contact the Library at 519-369-2107.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
