West Grey Library: Welcoming the Holidays

Colourful Christmas cookies

The West Grey Library offers festive ways to mark the holidays that won’t break the bank. For the whole family: Cookie Decorating at all three Library branches.

Magical Christmas memories without all of the prep and headache! Sign up with your family and enjoy cookie decorating and ornament making. Come and go at any time.

Thursday December 4, 5:30 - 6:30 PM (Neustadt branch)

Tuesday December 9, 5:30 - 6:30 PM (Ayton branch)

Thursday December 11, 4:30 - 6:30 PM (Durham branch)

Please register in advance on the West Grey Public Library website.

For 14+: The Library offers a session where you can make your own wrapping paper, on Thu, Nov 20th at 2:30pm. Then, on Wed, Nov 26th, take in Holiday Traditions at 3:30 pm, a light-hearted look at some Canadian Christmas traditions. And on Thursday, November 27th, there’s One for Now, One for Later: Edible Gifts, starting at 2:30 pm. This popular food-based program fills up quickly, so grab your seat. All programs are free and include materials, but pre-registration is a must – use the Library’s new registration system on its website, call 519.369.2107, drop into Durham Branch or email adltprograms@westgreylibrary.com.

And be sure to check out the Christmas Tree Tag program, offered in partnership with the Durham and District Food Bank. Your unwrapped gift or financial contribution can bring the holidays to an area child or family. Pop in, pick up a tag or two, and return with your unwrapped gift. If you know a family in need, let them know that applications for the Food Bank’s Christmas Hamper program are also available at the Library until November 30. The Library is also accepting personal care donations for adults through November, to be forwarded to the Food Bank.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
