Saturday August 26, 2023, West Grey Police were called to Concession 18, West Grey in after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle. Officers located a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup that had been stolen from Wellington County on August 10, 2023.

A 27-year-old male from Wellington County was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Adult – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Over $5,000.00

The accused was processed on the West Grey charges and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton. He was then turned over to the O.P.P. Wellington Detachment where an arrest warrant was in place for the same person.

August 27, 2023, police were called to Ayton, Ontario in response to a disturbance. On police arrival officers located a male who was yelling and swearing on the street directly across from a park where children and families were playing. When the 56-year-old “dawg” was arrested for Causing a Disturbance, he pushed an officer then continued to resist arrest.

The West Grey resident was arrested and is charged with:

  • Adult – Cause Disturbance
  • Adult – Assault a Peace Officer
  • Adult – Disobeying Order of Court
  • Adult – Resist Peace Officer

The accused was processed, then released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.

Tuesday, September 5, 2023, the same person was arrested in relation to an unrelated matter from August 2023 and is charged with:

  • Adult – Criminal Harassment – beset and watch complainant
  • Adult – Common Nuisance – endanger life
  • Adult – Breach of Recognizance

The accused was released on an Undertaking with further conditions and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.

Monday August 28, 2023, West Grey Police attended an address on North Line, Glenelg, West Grey after locating a stolen 2023 Ford F-150 which had been reported stolen days before from West Grey. Officers also recovered a tandem axle trailer that had been reported stolen from Meaford, along with 10 sets of stolen license plates.

The investigation has led to a 29-year-old female from West Grey being arrested and charged with:

  • Adult – Possession Property Obtained by Crime, Over $5,000.00 (2 counts).

The accused was processed and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.
(The investigation is ongoing and more arrests and charges are expected.)

Wednesday August 30, 2023, West Grey Police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle on the North Line, Glenelg Twp, West Grey. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. As a result, a 28-year-old male from Thornbury was arrested and is charged with:

  • Adult – Obstruct Police Officer
  • Adult – Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (2 counts).

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody.

Thursday August 31, 2023 police responded to a neighbour disturbance in the former Normanby Twp, West Grey. As a result of the investigation a 53-year-old male from Wellington County was arrested and is charged with:

  • Adult – Assault (spousal)
  • Adult – Sexual Assault (3 counts)

The accused was processed and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.

Friday September 1, 2023 West Grey officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Grey Road 4, West Grey. A driver entered the spot check and registered a “Fail” during a road side test, and over 80 mg during breathalyzer tests at the station.

A 47-year-old from West Grey has been charged with:

  • Adult – Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was processed and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.

Sunday September 3, 2023, WGPS police responded to an unknown disturbance on Queen Street, Durham. As a result of the investigation a Young Person under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arrested and is charged with:

  • Young Person – Assault
  • Young Person – Mischief (2 Counts)
  • Young Person – Utter Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused was remanded into custody by the Ontario Court of Justice. No further information will be released concerning this matter.

Monday September 4, 2023, West Grey officers responded to a family dispute on Concession 18, West Grey. The investigation has led to a 19-year-old female from West Grey being arrested and charged with:

  • Adult – Assault

The accused was processed and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.

Monday September 4, 2023, officers were called to Concession 8 N.D.R., West Grey in response to a domestic dispute. As a result of the investigation a 51-year-old male was arrested on scene and is charged with:

  • Adult – Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal
  • Adult – Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle.

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody.

Sunday September 6, 2023, officers were called to Queen Street North, Durham after calls of an unknown problem.
Police arrived on scene and arrested a 68-year-old male who is now charged with:

  • Adult – Assault

The accused was processed and later released on an Undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice — Walkerton.
