During the week of July 14 – 21, 2022 the West Grey Police Service responded to 92 total calls for service.

  • 1 – Ambulance / Fire Assistance
  • 1 – Assault
  • 8 – Motor Vehicle Collisions
  • 10 – Police Information / Assistance Calls
  • 4 – Domestic / Family Disputes
  • 3 – Stolen Vehicles (1 recovered/2 stolen)
  • 1 – Homicide
  • 7 – Suspicious Persons / Vehicles
  • 1 – Break and Enter
  • 2 – Mischief
  • 7 – Traffic Hazards / Traffic Enforcements
  • 3 – Thefts
  • 7 – 911 Calls for service

July 15, 2022, at approximately 3:04 am, the West Grey Police Service (WGPS) responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Grey Road 4 in the Municipality of West Grey.

On the evening of July 15, 2022, the Grey Bruce OPP discovered a deceased 62-year-old individual in the area of Walters Falls, in the Township of Chatsworth. This deceased individual is believed to be linked to the shooting incident in West Grey.

On July 17, 2022, at approximately 1:48 pm, multiple units of the West Region OPP and Central Region OPP responded to the area of Walters Falls after receiving information that a wanted suspect was observed in the area.

Police arrested Kodie HEARSUM, 34-years-of-age from the Municipality of West Grey, at approximately 3:43 pm.

HEARSUM remains in custody and has been charged with:

  • Adult – Second Degree Murder

The joint investigation between the West Grey Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police remains ongoing.

Fail to Comply – On July 19, 2022, a vehicle fled a R.I.D.E. spot check on Grey Road 4, West Grey. The driver is known to police and investigation revealed he was in violation of his release conditions. A warrant has been sought for a 37-year-old male from Sauble Beach for the offences of:

  • Adult – Fail to Comply with Release Order (X2)
