On September 14, 2024 West Grey officers were called to a residence in Normanby three times in one hour for an intoxicated male. A 33 year old male was arrested and charged with obstructing police. He was held in cells and released on conditions and with a court appearance date. He immediately returned to the residence where he assaulted and threatened his partner, did damage to property and stole his partner’s property. Another resident at the residence contacted police and the suspect fled the property upon police arrival. A warrant was sought charging him with offences related to the assault, threats, mischief and theft was issued. On September 18, 2024 the male was arrested on these charges and he remains in custody at press time.
On September 6, 2024 a West Grey officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Douglas St in Durham. Investigation revealed an occupant of the vehicle was in possession of methamphetamine. A 32 year old male was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance and released to a court date where he will answer to the charge.
On September 4, 2024 West Grey officers were called to investigate a road rage incident on a roadway in the former Bentinck township. After an investigation a 64 year old West Grey man was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, He was released with conditions and will appear in court to answer to the charges.
