While most people know the Library is a great resource for books, magazines, DVDs and books on CDs, there are other items well worth checking out — literally.
The West Grey Library has sports kits and Ontario Park passes, fishing rods and tackle and yard games for your outdoor fun; pond life and primary math kits; and board games and toys for summer breaks and staycations.
For health and wellness, the Library’s self-care kit or cognitive wellness kit might be in order. The latter is a great compilation of items for those who are living with someone with dementia and has simple but enjoyable activities, games and memory nudges.
If your taste runs to tech, the Library has Wonderbook kits for reading along with a narrator, Libby for checking out e-books and audiobooks and Kanopy and Niche Academy tutorials for online entertainment and education.
Most kits are based in Durham Branch, but can be ordered to the branches, and of course the digital choices are available anytime, anywhere. All you need is a library card, which is free!
At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
