Suspect charged after weapons complaint Varney

The suspect has been found hiding in an outbuilding on the property.

A 35 year old Varney man has been charged with:

  • Careless use of Firearm
  • Theft of Firearm
  • Mischief
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (X@)
  • Possession of a Weapon dangerous to the Public
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (X2)

Th accused is being held for a Bail Hearing on October 7, 2021.

On Tuesday October 5, 2021, West Grey Police Service responded to a Weapons Complaint in Varney – West Grey, Ontario.

The police investigation revealed that at least one shot was fired during the domestic dispute.

The suspect fled the scene prior to the police arriving at the scene.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the area but they were unable to locate the suspect.

A warrant is being sought for a 35-year-old male from Varney – West Grey, Ontario for multiple Criminal Code and Firearms offences.

There is currently NO threat to public safety in the Varney area.

This matter is currently under active investigation – further updates will be provided when available.
