Don't forget to turn clocks ahead this weekend

Daylight Savings Time March 10, 2024

BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — It's time again to change the clocks this weekend. When local standard time approaches Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2 am clocks are advanced one hour to Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3 am local daylight time instead.

Sunrise and sunset will be about one hour later on Mar 10, 2024 than they occurred the day before. There will be more light in the evening thereafter.

Since 2007, all provinces, territories, and locations in Canada using Daylight Savings Time (DST) follow the same start and end dates as the United States.

According to TimeandDate.com, it is up to the legislation in each municipality in Canada to decide on the use of DST. As a result, there are some locations don't follow the DST schedule of their in provinces and territories. For example, while British Columbia uses DST, some locations in the province do not. These include Chetwynd, Creston, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and Fort St. John. In Saskatchewan, it is the opposite. Most of the province does not observe DST, except for some locations, including Creighton and Denare Beach. From March 8, 2020, Yukon made DST permanent.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
