A special weather statement was issued by ECCC early Saturday and a tornado alert was sent out for all of Grey County later the same day. Cloud rotations were tracked in real time on the Ontario Storm Watch Facebook page as they developed and moved across southern Ontario.
According to ECCC the tornado hit ground in the Chatsworth area south of Owen sound just after 5 pm.
Downed trees and damage to several buildings occurred. So far, no injuries have been reported.
Heavy rain leading to flooding was also reported in surrounding communities including Owen Sound and Thornbury
Travelling at 50 km/hr, the storm that touched down in Chatsworth, continued towards Walter's Falls, Heathcote and Thornbury but gradually weakened before heading out over Georgian Bay.
