BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — It's heartwarming to see that stories about people in need of help seem to get the most attention on South Grey News. In August, Allison Jones told us about her friend, Hannah Ralph, who suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious car accident between Markdale and Flesherton. After being air-lifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, she was placed in critical care and underwent multiple surgeries.

Amazingly, the Burlington girl was instantly located thanks to Crash Detection, a feature of her iPhone 14. Using this technology, her iPhone automatically placed a call to first responders and her emergency contacts when it detected the collision on Road 130 southwest of Highway 10.

Hannah's story was such a testimonial for the Crash Detection feature of the iPhone 14, that it was also presented on the iPhone in Canada website.

In light of Hannah's injuries, the call was put out to solicit donations to help pay for extensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, mobility devices and services, and potential home supports. As of this publication date, nearly $30,000 has been raised for her care.

In only three weeks, following a car accident which left her with serious injuries including broken femurs and pelvis, cranial and cervical spine fractures, as well as multiple lacerations and substantial blood loss requiring transfusions, Hannah Ralph was removed from critical care. Her condition was upgraded to 'stable' and the 21-year-old car accident victim has steadily improved ever since.

A talented young musician, Hannah is looking forward to creating new music and performing again soon. She has several songs available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify including Just a Girl, Coffee Breath, Lie All the Time and more.
