Suspect arrested for Fatal Fail to Remain Collision in Hanover

The Hanover Police Service has 33-year-old male of no fixed address in custody in connection with a fatal fail to remain collision involving a pedestrian that resulted in the death of a Hanover woman identified as 66-year-old Sheila LAMONT.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Sheila LAMONT died at the Hanover and District Hospital from her injuries after she was struck by a red Chrysler PT Cruiser that fled the scene of a collision on 7th Avenue near the entrance to the Hanover Park. The PT Cruiser was later found destroyed by fire in the Municipality of Brockton.

The suspect was arrested last evening without incident, after he was located walking on McNabb Street in the Town of Walkerton by members of the South Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

The suspect was held overnight and remanded into custody at his bail hearing this morning on charges of Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Fail to Remain at a Collision Resulting in Death and Arson. His next scheduled court appearance is on June 27th in Walkerton Bail Court.

The Hanover Police Service would like to thank our media partners for their timely reporting of key information to the public, the Ontario Provincial Police for their investigative assistance, our other policing partners and members of the public who came forward with information that aided our assigned investigators with establishing the timelines and the sequence of events.
