A driver has been charged with stunt driver after a traffic stop in a posted 50km/h zone.
On December 3, 2022, a Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 10 in the town of Berkley.
The officer stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 90 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 50 km/h speed limit zone.
The 34-year-old driver from the Township of Chatsworth is charged with Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed. They also face a 30-day licence suspension, and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Owen Sound at a later date.
The Grey Bruce OPP would like to remind motorists that as of April 1, 2022, the threshold for stunt driving was changed to incorporate 40 km/h over the posted speed limit, when that posted speed limit is less than 80 km/h.
