The Township of Southgate is inviting residents to come and participate in a Community Planning Open House.

The Community Planning Open House will focus on key community planning issues currently before Township staff. Information for the Open House is as follows:

Date and Time: Thursday November 28, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Location: Frank MacIntyre Building, 220 Toronto St., Dundalk, ON.

The Open House is being held to welcome community feedback on the following matters, which have been common points of discussion in our community:

  • Additional Residential Units (ARUs; a.k.a. “granny flats” or “basement suites”);
  • Decks and Accessory Structures (i.e.: detached garages and sheds); and,
  • Changing the approval process for select types of planning applications from Council to municipal planning staff.

“This open house is a great opportunity for all Southgate residents to help inform our staff team on these key issues,” noted Ken Melanson, the Township’s Senior Manager of Planning and Development. “I encourage residents with an interest in these issues to come out and provide us with feedback.”

If you wish to share your feedback, but are unable to attend the Open House, please share your feedback to planning@southgate.ca by November 27, 2024, or call the Township’s planning staff at 519-923-2110 ext. 235.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
