BY SOUTHGREY.CA — Development of two parcels of land formerly owned by Talisman Mountain Resort and now in the possession of Westway Capital Inc. will be discussed by the public in a series of Information Sessions this fall. This comes after a number of significant advancements in 2022.

On Monday, March 14, the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario ruled in favour of the Municipality of Grey Highlands, dismissing a motion brought forward by the Protecting Talisman Lands Association to halt the sale of the Municipally owned Talisman lands to Westway Capital.

On June 9, the sale of the former Talisman Golf Course and the upper land atop the old Talisman Resort, closed. The properties, known as 150 Talisman Mountain Drive – Upper and Lower, were officially sold to Westway Capital and the purchase was finalized on June 22.

Shortly thereafter, Westway Capital retained The Planning Partnership to assist with community engagement. They also promised to work with governing authorities to ensure that future activities adhere to the planning process and meet legislative requirements.

On August 3, The Beaver Valley Development Group, led by Paul Golini, Paul Mondell, Martin Simone, and Antonio Piazza made a presentation to Grey Highlands Council to introduce themselves and explain next steps for the development of the former Talisman lands. An affiliate of Westway, the group also retained Crozier Consulting Engineers as a consultant firm on future projects.

On October 6, The Beaver Valley Development Group will hold the first Public Information Session for the planning and design of their lands. The Planning Partnership will lead the initial stage of the development process. This will be the first of three Information Sessions planned over the coming months to collaborate with the community on the directions for development on these lands.

A pair of two-hour meetings are scheduled for this date from 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm. The Planning Partnership will give a brief presentation, providing an overview of the development process, the results of the 2021 Beaver Valley Visioning exercise, the planning context of the lands and key directions to consider for land use options to be explored at the second Information Session. Meeting participants will be invited to share their ideas following the presentation.

If interested in attending one of these sessions, register to attend by clicking on this link and choose the time that best suits your schedule. The Kimberley Hall has a 60 person capacity, so space is limited.
