OPP West Region launches Festive Ride Season

OPP logo and flashing light

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers across West Region's 13 detachments continue their efforts to get impaired drivers off our roads and highways this holiday season.

The 2025 Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign begins across southwestern Ontario on November 20, 2025 and runs until January 1, 2026.

Throughout this annual enforcement and education campaign, drivers can expect a heightened OPP presence on West Region roads and highways, as officers conduct RIDE checks 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout Ontario.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remain committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. Drivers are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and preventing others from driving if you know or suspect that they may be impaired. Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.

Young and novice drivers are reminded that if you are 21 and under or have a G1, G2, M1 or M2 licence, you cannot have any drugs or alcohol in your system.

If you suspect an impaired driver, make that lifesaving call and dial 9-1-1.

For more information about the significant penalties associated with a criminal charge of impaired driving, please click here: www.ontario.ca/page/impaired-driving.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
