BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF – Many must-see speakers will give presentations throughout the weekend of April 29-30 at the Flesherton Arena during the South Grey Home and Garden Show (SGHGS). Here are just a few of the scheduled orators and their topics:
Ben Caesar of Fiddlehead Nurseries in Kimberley endorses a gardening system known as forest gardening. Within this system, edible landscape plants are used for their aesthetic value as well as for consumption. Forest gardens can also provide products such as medicine, fibre, firewood, dye, building materials, and more.
As an introduction to forest gardening, Ben will speak on the topic of foraging. During his presentation, he will help identify some of the best plants to harvest and which ones to avoid. Whether it’s for morel mushrooms, puffballs, fiddlehead ferns or other lesser-known delicacies, Ben will give a valuable primer and answer questions at 11 am on Saturday, April 29.
After experiencing his own paranormal events when he was younger, Gerry Rooney became a paranormal investigator and discovered his gift as a Medium. Together with his wife, he works with a trained team of amazing investigators with some of the most advanced equipment to explain what he claims he already knew — spirit is everywhere.
Through his business The Science of Spirit in Markdale, he and his team have witnessed numerous paranormal activities and documented them for a presentation at 11 am on Sunday, April 30.
Studio A is located in the heart of Durham where April Barker offers music lessons, fitness and dance classes as well as special events. She will bring an energetic presentation of music and Zumba to the SGHGS stage, time and date TBD.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
