Path through woods

Get ready for Saugeen’s Hike for Hospice in Walkerton, Hanover, Mildmay and Durham

Supporters of hospice care in Grey-Bruce will have, not one, but five opportunities to participate in Hike for Hospice events.

Grey Bruce Hospice (Chapman House) presently serves all of Grey-Bruce. Grey Bruce Hospice is raising funds for the existing Chapman House in Owen Sound.

Saugeen Hospice Inc. is separate and independent, and will also soon serve the south-central part of Grey-Bruce, when its six-bed residential hospice is constructed on land provided in Brockton. Saugeen Hospice is currently raising funds for the new build.

Saugeen Hospice Inc. has scheduled four Hikes for Hospice in the southern part of Grey-Bruce, to help raise funds for the new build.

In the past, Saugeen Hospice Inc. has held three hikes – one each in Walkerton, Hanover and Mildmay. This year there’ll also be one in Durham.

The dates and locations for Saugeen Hospice Inc.’s Hikes for Hospice are as follows:

  • Hanover - Sunday, April 28 at the &H Centre (www.saugeenhospice.ca – Hike for Hospice 2024, or hanoverhike-4hospice@gmail.com).
  • Durham – Sunday, May 5, 1-4 pm at the Durham Conservation Area.
  • Brockton – Sunday, May 5, 1-4 pm – along the Walkerton River Trail from the Agricultural Building (walkertonhike4hospice@gmail.com).
  • Mildmay – Sunday, May 5, 1-4 pm at the Seniors Room at the rear of the Mildmay arena.

Get your teams together, pick up or print off your pledge sheets and register your team! Challenge your friends, family and workplace, and get ready to have some fun!

Please note that Grey Bruce Hospice is running one of their Hikes for Chapman House in Hanover on Saturday, May 4 at the P&H Centre. Check the Chapman House website for information.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
