Hanover Police arrest armed suspects after high-risk take down

Hanover Police seized weapons from accused.

October 5, 2025, at 2 am officers from the Hanover Police Service responded to a report of prowlers at a residence on 14th Avenue. Police determined that several males were in the backyard of the residence armed with weapons, however, they did not gain entry inside the home and fled just prior to police arrival.

Shortly after the initial report, responding officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop but was ‘boxed in’ with cruisers and the suspects arrested at gunpoint during a high-risk take down.

A search of the vehicle revealed two sawed off shot guns fully loaded, a full-length shotgun fully loaded and a folding .22 calibre “Life card” single shot pistol that was unloaded. The folding .22 calibre “Life card” pistol was never legally sold in Canada. Officers also seized over $5500 of suspected fentanyl, over $1100 of suspected cocaine, over $500 in cash, a prohibited knife, drug trafficking paraphernalia and stolen property linked to break-and-enters in Hamilton.

A 24-year-old of Kitchener faces 17 charges including Flight from Police, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking, Unauthorized Possession of Firearms and Weapons, Careless Use of Firearms and Trespassing by Night. He was later remanded into custody at his bail hearing.

A 18-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula and a 18-year-old  of Owen Sound each face 14 charges including Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking, Unauthorized Possession of Firearms and Weapons, Careless Use of Firearms and Trespass by Night. They were later remanded into custody at their bail hearings.

On October 6, 2025, a fourth male suspect, a 31-year-old was arrested in Owen Sound by the Owen Sound Police Service without incident. Investigators determined he had fled from the vehicle just prior to the police interaction the night of the incident. The 31-year-old was returned to Hanover Police cells and later remanded into custody at his bail hearing. He faces 34 criminal and drug charges that include Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence of Kidnapping, Criminal Harassment, Trafficking in Firearms, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, Unauthorized Possession of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Firearms Contrary to Prohibition Order, Possession of Weapons for Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Stolen Property, Trespass by Night and more.

Police investigators believe the males were at a residence searching for a former girlfriend of one of the involved suspects, to remove her from the home. Police investigators later learned the female victim was aware they were searching for her in the days leading up to the incident and was actively hiding at the time.

Police want to speak with another person who was providing one of the suspects with information on the whereabouts of the female victim and her vehicle in the days leading up to the incident and are encouraging them to immediately come forward.

Further charges are pending as this investigation remains ongoing while investigators speak with witnesses, canvass neighbourhoods, review video footage and conduct searches. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Hanover Police Service at 519.364.2411 or Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce at 1.800. 222.TIPS.

The involved suspect vehicle, a blue 4-door Kia Forte sedan, was seized under the Highway Traffic Act. It will remain impounded at the owner’s expense until the conclusion of the court proceedings or as otherwise directed by the courts. This vehicle seizure is one of several such seizures made by the Hanover Police Service so far this calendar year.
