Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, has awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal to Hanover’s Chief of Police, Chris Knoll.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is a Canadian honour created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023. A total of 30,000 medals were created to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, or a particular region or community, or who have achieved outstanding results abroad that bring credit to the country.
In his letter informing the Chief of the award, Premier Ford noted that he nominated Chief Knoll for the Coronation Medal in recognition of his “exceptional contributions and dedication to the betterment of our province and country,” during his 35-year career in policing.
Chief Knoll started as an Auxiliary Constable with the Hanover Police Service in 1990 before attending the Ontario Police College in 1992 as a Police Constable. He joined the Ontario Provincial Police and served in various roles before returning to the Hanover Police Service in 2010 as an Inspector in charge of operations.
In 2015, Chief Knoll was appointed by the Hanover Police Service Board as the Chief of Police and continues to proudly serve in that role today.
“On behalf of our community and the Hanover Police Service Board, we congratulate Chief Knoll on this well-earned recognition and thank him for his many years of dedicated public service and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others”, says Hanover Police Service Board Chair, Selwyn Hicks.
