Grab & Go kits and sessions popular at West Grey Library

Part of a library’s commitment to its community is to offer different experiences, exposure to new ideas and skills and to offer ways to connect with each other.

During the pandemic, one of the West Grey Library’s most popular offerings was craft kits — Grab & Go for kids, Take & Make for adults — which included materials and instructions to make a different item each month. The Library community was very enthusiastic and, with support from the West Grey Friends of the Library, the Library has continued offering these kits, and has added in-person craft sessions for all ages. The youngest (0-6) can try their hand at a different craft at each Storytime; starting in July, Crafternoons will be offered weekly to the 5-12-year-old crowd; and adults can attend a monthly in-person craft session with a different craft on the fourth Thursday of each month. In May, it’s peg dolls. In June, they can create a fairy house.

Kits and sessions are free to attend; the adult in-person sessions have a modest materials fee. All supplies and session spaces are limited. Kits are available the first of the month while they last. Sessions are limited in size, with spaces available by calling 519-369-2107 or emailing adultprograms@westgreylibrary.com

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
