Are you interested in learning a trade or thinking about applying to one of Georgian’s skilled trades programs? If so, you may want to come out to our free Try a Trade event at the Owen Sound Campus on March 29 from 5 to 7 pm.
Participants will get to explore their state-of-the-art lab spaces and take part in hands-on activities in the skilled trades. Plus, they can meet expert faculty, current students and local employers to learn more about career pathways.
There is a shortage of skilled trades workers in Canada, so if you like working with your hands, this is an opportune time to start. Georgian has outstanding facilities, faculty and employer connections to help start your career.
“This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in the skilled trades to see firsthand what they’re all about,” said Dave Shorey, Executive Director, Owen Sound Campus. “There’s a lot of opportunity in Grey-Bruce for people wanting to work in the skilled trades, so there’s never been a better time for someone to get into trades training.”
Those who come out to the Try a Trade event will also be able to apply for free to a Georgian program.
Here’s why you should explore the skilled trades at Georgian:
Registration is recommended but walk-ins are also welcome. Register online for Try a Trade at info.georgiancollege.ca/TryATrade2023.
At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
