SPONSORED CONTENT — A gemologist and art lover for decades, Grey Highlands resident Barry Tuddenham is selling off all his stock and using the profits to help causes that are important to him. Living out his retirement in southern Grey County, the self-made philanthropist has over a thousand items uploaded to his online store, with thousands more yet to come.
"Getting old, I have a lot of stock to move before I croak!" Jokes Barry who laments the time and energy his new occupation has wrested from his life. "I work at it seven days a week, from eight to ten hours a day. It is giving me a new understanding of the word re-tired!"
An animal lover, Barry cites several pet rescues and humane organizations as the recipients of his generous mission. Doctors Without Borders and UNICEF also make the list of worthy causes that have benefited from money raised. "All my funds go into my efforts for charity," he exclaims. "In the future, I hope to expand considerably." The retired gem stone buyer has also launched an online auction service but he cautions visitors to learn how it works before bidding.
His website The Shelter Funder boasts a variety of gems and jewellery, including rings, earrings and pendants as well as original artwork and signed prints. An accomplished woodworker himself, Barry has uploaded many of his own pieces to the collection of items up for sale.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
