West Grey Police badge and red lights

June 1, 2025, officers from the West Grey Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) near the intersection of John Street East and George Street in the former Town of Elmwood, West Grey.

Upon arrival, officers found that members of the community were already on scene providing first aid and CPR to the victim. Elmwood Fire Services and Bruce County Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Despite these efforts, the 32-year-old male driver of the ATV was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Reconstruction Team will be attending the scene to assist with accident reconstruction and analysis.

As a result, John Street East remains closed between Main Street North and George Street North. We ask the public to avoid the area and thank them for their understanding.

The investigation is ongoing, The West Grey Police Service extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
