Local family shows support for community through donation to Markdale Hospital

Thompson family pose with donation cheque in front of Allen's Garage.

The Thompson family proudly share their generous donation to the Together in Care Campaign for the new Markdale Hospital in memory of Sharon Thompson and Terry Thompson. “It gives us great pride to honour our loved ones while contributing to a cause that is very close to our hearts” stated Cindy Evans.

The Thompson family was born and raised in Grey County. In 1979, Allan & Sharon Thompson opened Allan’s Garage. Over the past 40+ years, their business has grown to include many members of their family. Throughout those years, there were countless trips to the Markdale Hospital for illnesses, accidents and surgeries. “The staff and services provided by our local hospital has always been second to none and the convenience of a local hospital is not something that every community is fortunate enough to have. Our community is rapidly changing, and we are so honoured to be a part of this change. We feel that our contribution to the new hospital is the perfect way to honour our loved ones while helping to provide a state-of-the-art facility that will benefit our entire community for many years to come.” Stated the Thompson Family.

Centre Grey Health Services Foundation thanked the Thompson family for this gift. A strong community hospital is only possible through strong community support. This gift from the Thompson family will have a long lasting positive impact on local healthcare.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
