Male suspect arrested after a violent incident inside a residence in Hanover

Hanover Police badge.

On the evening of Monday, November 17, 2025, members of the Hanover Police Service responded to a violent incident at a residence on 6th Avenue in Hanover.

The investigation determined that a 21-year-old male of Hanover was consuming alcohol inside a residence with family members and friends when he became intoxicated and made repeated threats to kill those present. An argument turned physical, and the male attacked a family member, stabbing an adult male victim twice before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim was transported to hospital, treated for two stab wounds, and later released.

Police located the perpetrator walking on 7th Avenue within a few hours of the disturbance at which time he was taken into custody without further incident. Police investigators determined that he is currently on federal parole for previous crimes of violence. His federal parole has since been revoked and he was remanded into custody at his bail hearing on the following charges;

  • Assault with a Weapon – s.267(a)
  • Aggravated Assault – s.268
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – s.88
  • Uttering Death Threats x 3 – s.264(1)(a)

This investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crimestoppers of Grey Bruce at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477).
