New children’s book Fairy Day Games teaches young readers lessons on teamwork

Fairy Day Games and author Mari Sherkin.

Mascot Books has announced the release of Fairy Day Games by local author Mari Sherkin, with illustrations by David Gnass.

Get ready for fun at the Fairy Day Games! Join children's author Mari Sherkin as she peeks inside a secret world, where magical creatures come together to prepare for the most festive Fairy Day of the year!

Sherkin originally wrote Fairy Day Games as a poem, but realized its messages of inclusiveness and teamwork would especially resonate with young readers.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a fairy, gnome or sprite,” Sherkin said. “This book showcases the beauty of everyone coming together for one common goal.”

Through this heartfelt and beautifully illustrated story, Sherkin also hopes young readers will take a break from screens and develop a love for reading at an early age.

Raised in Toronto by an English father and Canadian mother, Mari Sherkin was always the happiest playing outdoors and using her imagination. She still is. Her first children’s book, A Fairy on My Sleeve, was an international success, read by Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson on her popular YouTube Channel, Storytime with Fergie and Friends.

Fairy Day Games is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The book is distributed by APG, Ingram, the American Wholesale Book Company, Baker & Taylor, and Follett Library Resources.
