Families seek their entertainment fortunes at the Eugenia Gold Rush June 28th

BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — On Saturday, June 28th, the Eugenia Gold Rush festival will take over the village with events at the Highland United Church and Eugenia Community Park. Presented by the Eugenia District Community Improvement Association, the event is sponsored by Ontario Power Generation Power for Change Project and the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The fun-filled day of family-friendly outdoor activities begins with the ever-popular Highland United Church’s Pancake Breakfast and Yard Sale starting at 8 am. Hungry prospectors can fill up on a plate of three pancakes with sausages, maple syrup and coffee, tea or water.

A local vendor market starts at 11 am in Eugenia Community Park and runs until 4 pm.

For the kids, Petunia the Clown will be making balloon animals. There will be face painting, bouncy castles and inflatable games, as well as the famous gold panning for gems.

This year the Gold Rush Trackless Train is back — a popular ride that’s fun for kids and adults alike. All aboard at the Community Pavilion for a tour around the village and grounds.

Try your luck at horseshoes. The Eugenia Golden Horseshoe Tournament registration is at 11:00. Start time is at noon. All are welcome.

Many treasures will be won or lost at the expansive Silent Auction which also begins at noon and runs until 7 pm.

Hot food will be available from The Burger Guru until 4 pm. The Flying Chestnut Kitchen takes over to feed attendees through the evening.

Attendees can also choose to relax under the large LCBO-licensed tent. Live music starts at 11 am with The Hanley Institute Kids talent show, followed by live music in the afternoon — Tyler Hanley starts at 12:30 pm and Blue Skye will take the stage at 3 pm. There’s an Open Mike at 4:30 pm and bring your dancing boots for Line Dance instructions from 6-7 pm.

Bored of Education will entertain in the evening from 7 pm - 10 pm.

We encourage everyone to buy a wristband as the proceeds from our event go towards park improvements. Tickets/wristbands are available online on www.eugeniagoldrush.com until June 27 at 5 pm.

Tickets/wristbands also will be available at the park gate during the event. Parking is off Evans Street at the west end of the park, a short walk to where all the action is.

Pay-it-forward tickets are available to purchase if you want to donate to others who may not be able to afford a ticket. All proceeds will be funnelled back into the community for park improvements.

Adults $20, Kids Unlimited Pass $15. Visit www.eugeniagoldrush.com for more details.

Enjoy yourself at this great fundraising event!
