Driver charged with impaired driving following traffic stop in Grey Highlands

August 16, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol duties on Highway 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

A traffic stop was initiated, and officers detected signs of impairment from the driver. An Approved Screening Device was administered, resulting in a FAIL. The driver was arrested and transported to the Markdale OPP Detachment for further testing.

A 33-year-old, of Grey Highlands, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Automobile Insurance Act Offences:

  • Operation while impaired- (80 plus) CC
  • Adult Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit HTA
  • Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted limit HTA
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance CAIA
  • The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 4, 2025.

The OPP is committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario's roadways. Members of the public are urged to report Impaired Driving by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints of impaired, aggressive, or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
