SPONSORED CONTENT — This special little girl is Sydney. She has a few challenges and so will need special attention. She is blind. Her eyes were removed due to complications resulting from glaucoma. She gets around well, proceeds slowly until she has a feel for her surroundings and then she does really well.

On top of this, she is diabetic and requires insulin shots twice a day and her diet has to be watched. Fortunately, she is very good about having the needles and loves to get a treat afterwards.
She is nervous of new people but warms up quickly and is playful and affectionate. She's good with dogs and cats and fine with kids but since too much activity is overwhelming for her, the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS) is looking for a quiet home for her. Sydney is a chihuahua-pomeranian cross, approximately 8 years-old, and is spayed. She is up-to-date on vaccinations. If you think you could give a home to this special needs girl, call the shelter at 519-372-1911 for an appointment to meet her.
During the COVID-19 crisis, people are working at the GBAS to care for the animals but they are limiting the numbers of volunteers and restricting general public visits. GBAS serves the residents of both Grey and Bruce Counties who can no longer care for their own pet cats and dogs. The shelter minimizes the time that surrendered pets spend at the shelter by consistently matching animals with suitable new homes.
Largely volunteer-based, the animal shelter receives no financial assistance from any level of government and is 100% funded by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising events. The shelter is located at 457437 Concession Rd 8 S, Municipality of Meaford.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
