Adoption of the week: meet Sophie and Mac

Adoption of the week: meet Sophie and Mac

SPONSORED CONTENT — This sweet bonded pair of kitties, Sophie (black & white, female, domestic short hair) and Mac (cream & white, male, domestic long hair), have been with the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS) since April when their owner passed away. They are both spayed/neutered and up-to-date on shots. They are 12 years-old and have been together all their lives. Both love people and attention, especially Mac who loves to snuggle. They are looking for a home where they can live out their senior years together. For more info on them or any of the other amazing animals at the GBAS, give them a call at 519-372-1911.

During the COVID-19 crisis, people are working at the shelter to care for the animals but they are limiting the numbers of volunteers and restricting general public visits. GBAS serves the residents of both Grey and Bruce Counties who can no longer care for their own pet cats and dogs. The shelter minimizes the time that surrendered pets spend at the shelter by consistently matching animals with suitable new homes.

Largely volunteer-based, the shelter receives no financial assistance from any level of government and is 100% funded by adoption fees, private donations and fundraising events. The shelter is located at 457437 Concession Rd 8 S, Municipality of Meaford.

For further information regarding surrenders, adoptions, donations and volunteering, please visit us at grey-bruceanimalshelter.com or Facebook at Friends of the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or Instagram at Grey Bruce Animal Shelter.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful and factual, up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a donation in lieu of a subscription fee and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
