BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — Triton was a bulldog who spent two years of his life in the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter (GBAS). He was featured in two South Grey News 'Adoptions of the Week' back in 2018 and 2019. Eventually, deemed unadoptable, he found a home with the loving family of a shelter volunteer. Unfortunately though, his life was cut short when lymphoma took over the cells of his immune system. He only survived another 5 months.
During his time at the shelter though, he touched the lives of many people and was well looked after by staff. Triton had many challenges which made adoption difficult, but his time at the shelter was well spent as he seemed to have a calming effect on each new dog that arrived. When he was diagnosed, an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy was given to the ailing animal, which showed initial promise but failed to yield lasting results.
Recently, Kim Hardy, the volunteer who cared for Triton in the last few months of his life, together with Sharon Clement, former manager at GBAS decided to honour Triton's legacy by themselves, homing dogs who otherwise might be on the streets or in animal shelters.
Kim and Sharon believed that the course of Triton's tragic life and death was an omen, portending that they should continue to rescue and save dogs with the realization that every dog, no matter what breed, origin, or past history, deserved to find the happiness, love and comfort of a forever family.
With that, they started Team Triton Rescue, a new respite to care for and re-home less fortunate dogs in Grey and Bruce counties. Kim and Sharon will foster dogs of all breeds and origins until such time as their permanent families can be found. All money received by Team Triton goes directly to the care of these dogs, including food, veterinary care and supplies.
Bo is one of Team Triton's first attempts at re-homing a deserving K-9. He is a 2-year-old hound mix and is super sweet. Neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, Bo is also house and crate-trained. He is good with all people and dogs. He may chase cats in play. Bo walks well with a leash. He has been walked off-leash but if he isn't supervised, he will wander. He has medium energy with great manners and does not jump up on people.
