September 26, 2020, West Grey Police arrested and charged a 23 year-old West Grey resident with arson after concluding an investigation into fire damage at a local group home reported in August. The accused was released with conditions and will appear in court in November to answer to the charges.
September 27, 2020, West Grey Police responded to a break in at a cottage property on 6 Highway in West Grey. The break in occurred sometime in the previous two days. A trailer was entered and a 32” TV and DVD player were among the stolen items. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or West Grey Police at 519-371-6911.
September 26, 2020, West Grey Police received an anonymous complaint about a large gathering of people on Grey Road 3. With such limited information, police were unable to locate the gathering. It was suggested by the complainant the gathering would have contravened the public gathering limits imposed by the province. It is important that citizens abide by the gathering limits as large fines for breaching the orders in effect will be handed out to those found breaching the orders.
September 28, 2020, West Grey Police responded to a domestic dispute in progress at a residence in Neustadt. Upon arrival police located a damaged interior door and a female resident of the house advised she had been threatened by a man. A 38 year-old West Grey man was arrested and charged with Uttering Threats and Mischief. He was released with conditions and will appear in court on October 14, 2020 to answer to the charges.
September 27, 2020, West Grey Police were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Concession 2 WGR just south of Grey Rd 25. Investigation revealed the completely burnt out vehicle had been stolen the previous night from the Dundalk area. Police are looking for any witnesses who may have observed the red Chevrolet Silverado prior to the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
September 29, 2020, West Grey Police were alerted about a vehicle in the ditch in Bentinck Township. Thanks to the complainant, police located a male driver who was already facing Impaired Operation and Operating over 80 charges from June and August. He was arrested, charged with Operation while Impaired and Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release. He was held for bail and subsequently released.
