Taking into account the results of a community survey, comments from West Grey Police and information from public health; and following a January 8 public meeting, West Grey Council voted unanimously to opt in to retail cannabis at Tuesday's council meeting.
“Council arrived at today’s decision only after completing engagement with the community and receiving information from our municipal partners and staff,” said Mayor Christine Robinson in a West Grey media release. “In addition to the 74 percent of respondents who said 'yes' to opting-in, Council considered all of the input from survey participants and delegates at today’s public meeting to reach an informed decision.”
The survey closed January 3 with 364 respondents.
