FROM A AUGUST 6 MUNICIPALITY OF WEST GREY PRESS RELEASE — The Municipality of West Grey has joined communities across the province to declare a climate change emergency.
The move comes following a delegation from local residents calling for West Grey to adopt the declaration.
“We are listening,” West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson said. “With this declaration we are signalling our commitment to the environment and our commitment to future generations. West Grey will continue to do its part.”
Mayor Robinson pointed to several responsible stewardship initiatives already at work in the municipality including a recent project on Grey Road 71 that saw 4.6 kilometers of road recycled and the continued updates to LED lighting at West Grey facilities.
“We will continue to look for ways to act responsibly,” she said. “Thank you to our residents who brought this opportunity forward.”
The municipality of Grey Highlands declared a climate crisis on June 19, 2019.
