Stolen vehicle results in car in the ditch on Hwy 2 and multiple charges

According to a recent media release on March 26, 2020, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a (red) car travelling on Highway 10, south of Grey Road 40, Chatsworth in Grey County at a high rate of speed. The car passed the OPP cruiser and was located a short time later involved in a collision with a ditch on concession Road 2. The airbags in the vehicle had deployed and the occupants had left the collision scene.

The driver was located on foot near an area residence and was arrested. Two other involved males, passengers in the vehicle, were located walking on a nearby rail trail. Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, a 19 year old male from Haldimand County with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) 
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) CC
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) CC Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, section 355(a) CC

The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 28, 2020.Anyone with information that can assist Grey Bruce OPP with this investigation, call 1-888-310-1122.
