COVID-19 recovery grant announced to aid small businesses transitioning to new reality

Starter Company Plus COVID-19 recovery grant

Grey County’s Business Enterprise Centre is pleased to offer a new program stream opening July 1. The Starter Company Plus (SCP) Recovery Program focuses on aiding existing Grey County small businesses as they pivot to reopen and maintain operations throughout COVID-19. Grants of up to $2,500 will be awarded to eligible applicants to help offset costs associated with this transition.

The program supports newer small businesses that have been in operation for one to five years and find themselves with unexpected reopening costs. These could be expenses related to physical changes or business model changes. The Business Enterprise Centre will also offer mentorship, connect business owners with advisors or training, and will help point people to other tools.

Courtney Miller, Business Enterprise Manager says, “We’re seeing so much resiliency in our small business community and we are excited about the opportunities. We want to support our businesses with a program that is fast, flexible and gives people help when and how they need it most.”

The SCP Recovery Program will run from August 1 to September 30. Businesses will receive 75% of the awarded funding on August 1, with the balance being awarded upon completion of the program on September 3. Applications will open July 1.

The application for the program will be posted online at www.madeingrey.ca/business-enterprise-centre on July 1.

At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.

South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.

Please consider supporting South Grey News with a modest donation and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
