Impaired and speeding

On Tuesday January 28, 2020 at approximately 2:30 am, police were in the area of Allan Park Road when a vehicle was speeding. A traffic stop was initiated and the 24 year old driver from Guelph was believed to have consumed alcohol. Subsequent to police investigation the driver was transported to the West Grey Police Detachment where he was ordered to provide breath samples.

The male driver was found to have close to twice the legal alcohol limit in his system and was consequently charged with one count or Impaired operation and one count of Operation with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.

The accused was processed and released with a February 26th court date out of the Walkerton Courthouse. His vehicle was immediately impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

RIDE Program

On February 2, 2020, police were conducting a RIDE program on Concession 2 in West Grey when a driver pulled through smelling of alcohol. The driver was ordered to provide a breath sample at the roadside and complied with the demand registering a reading of 0.21. The driver was unable to provide any identification however, investigation revealed that he was in fact a Novice status driver whose license had been suspended since 2012.

Consequently, the 37 year-old Durham man was charged with one count of Driving while under suspension and one count of being a Novice driver while having a B.A.C above zero.

Due to the constraints placed on him by the driver’s license suspension, the borrowed vehicle which he had been driving was towed and impounded for 45 days. The driver will appear at the Walkerton Courthouse on March 10, 2020 to answer to the charges.
