On Wednesday, August 22, the Southgate Community Farmers' Market held its first Customer Appreciation Day with free corn on the cob, live music and draws to win market bucks to spend with any of the vendors in the park.
Of course, great locally-grown produce, home-baked goodies, woodworking and more was on display – the same great fare you'll find at the market every Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm until Thanksgiving in Dundalk Memorial Park.
Brenda Stewart played for customers on another beautiful summer afternoon at the farmers' market.
Southgate Councillor Barbara Dobreen took a quick break from cooking to share a photo-op with Market organizer Angie Beattie.
Many of the cookies also shared their happiness with the customer appreciation event.
Shawn Weppler served his popular smoked brisket on a bun.
Inside the MacIntyre Building, vendors fill their tables showing off their handmade products.
At South Grey News, we endeavour to bring you truthful up-to-date local community news in a quick and easy-to-digest format that’s free of political bias. We believe this service is more important today than ever before, as social media has given rise to misinformation, largely unchecked by big corporations who put profits ahead of their responsibilities.
South Grey News does not have the resources of a big corporation. We are a small, locally owned-and-operated organization. Research, analysis and physical attendance at public meetings and community events requires considerable effort. But contributions from readers and advertisers, however big or small, go a long way to helping us deliver positive, open and honest journalism for this community.
Please consider supporting South Grey News with a modest donation and let us know that our efforts are appreciated. Thank you.
