Southgate man holding knife utters threats resulting in charges

Southgate man charged with Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Death Threats


On January 10 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Southgate Road 10 in the Township of Southgate in response to a threats complaint.

In a Grey County OPP media release, investigation revealed that in the afternoon of January 9, the victim was watching television when his brother entered the room holding a knife and threatened to stab him.

The victim called police on January 10 when his brother again uttered threats to him while holding a knife. Both incidents were unprovoked. The 69-year old victim was not injured.

Police arrested the 66-year old Southgate man who was transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment pending a bail hearing scheduled for January 11.

The accused is charged with two counts of Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Utter Death Threats.
