BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — In September and October, the Eugenia District Community Improvement Association (EDCIA) held a Thanksgiving Decorate Your Door Contest which helped beautify the village of Eugenia leading up to the recent holiday weekend. Residents were asked to decorate their doors and upload pictures to social media using the hashtag #eugeniafrontdoor. People then cast votes for their favourite photograph. Ballots were collected at Top O' The Rock and many choices were also indicated on Facebook and Instagram.

Known for the annual summer festival Eugenia Gold Rush, the EDCIA were unable to continue their event this year due to restrictions enacted to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. EDCIA committee member, Nina Thompson explained, "We needed to have a safe event that would lift everyone's spirits during this pandemic."
A dozen entries to the contest were received. On October 13, winners were announced. Winners received gift baskets filled with products and gift cards donated by local businesses.

Kids were also encouraged to join in the fun, submitting coloured pictures for a chance to win gift certificates. Colouring contest winners were contacted by phone. The EDCIA committee thanks everyone who participated, as well as the businesses and families who donated prizes to the gift baskets.
