Normanby Landfill closing this fall

 

The Normanby Landfill has reached the capacity as approved by the Ministry of Environment and will officially close on September 1, 2018. 

Beginning June 16, it will only accept bagged garbage and recycling.

Large refuse including wood of any kind will no longer be accepted at the Normanby Landfill, and must be delivered to the Bentinck Landfill, 114079 Grey Road 3, Lamlash. The Bentinck Landfill is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is another hit that our community is taking. We all understand that this is at capacity, however, the Normanby Landfill should remain as a transfer station for this part of West Grey. Why should tax payers from this area have to drive 20 minutes each way to rid of their household waste?
