Do you know a West Grey resident, aged 65 or over, who’s volunteer commitment has made West Grey an even better place to live? Consider nominating them to be West Grey’s Senior of the Year.
In a West Grey media release, the province’s Senior of the Year Award gives every Ontario municipality the opportunity to honour one outstanding local Ontarian, over the age of 65, for their efforts and commitments to enriching the social, cultural or civic life of their community.
Those eligible for this award may have contributed in a variety of fields such as the arts, literature, community service, volunteerism, education, fitness and sport, or humanitarian activities.
Nominees must meet all of the following criteria:
- 65 years of age or older and a current resident of West Grey
- Have made contributions to help improve the West Grey community
- Not a previous recipient of the award
- Only individuals may be nominated (couples or groups are not eligible)
- Candidates must be notified of the nomination and information being submitted
You cannot nominate yourself, someone who has passed away, or someone who currently holds political office.
All nominations must be received at the municipal office by April 23 in order to meet the province’s deadlines. Nomination forms can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the municipal office, 402813 Grey Rd 4 in Durham, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Nomination forms can be downloaded here, or can be found, along with additional information and criteria, at www.ontario.ca/page/honours-and-awards-community#section-3 or by e-mailing email@example.com.
