New candidates vie for a seat on Southgate Council

BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF — Southgate could see a big change in council this fall with a new Mayor, Deputy Mayor and new members in council.

Anna-Marie Fosbrooke the current mayor and Deputy Mayor Norm Jack are not seeking re-election.

Seven people are running for five seats on council, two current council members Barbara Dobreen and Jim Frew are running again plus five other candidates.

John Woodbury a current council member is running for Mayor. Brian Milne, former Mayor and Grey County Warden is running for the position of Deputy Mayor.

Running for Mayor are:

Running for Deputy Mayor are:

  • Brian Milne
  • Carol Watson

Running for 5 council seats are:

  • Ned Cursio
  • Terry Da Silva
  • Barbara Dobreen
  • Jim Frew
  • Jason Rice
  • Michael Sherson
  • Martin Shipston

Running for French School Board Trustee are:

  • Guy Belcourt,
  • Saveria Caruso
  • Eric Lapointe

Alexandre Alary is acclaimed — French Language Catholic School Board

Robyn Garvey is acclaimed — School Board Trustee - Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board (Municipality of West Grey / Town of Hanover / Municipality of Grey Highlands / Township of Southgate)

Jim Dawson is acclaimed — English Public School Board Trustee — Bluewater District School Board (Bruce & Grey)

Internet and telephone voting information sessions are scheduled across Grey County. Southgate’s info session is scheduled for Wednesday August 29th at 9 am at the Council Chambers 185667 Grey Road 9 Dundalk, ON.
