Impaired driver charged after car flipped onto lawn in Chatsworth Township

On July 12, 2020 at 8:48 pm Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Lundolder Drive in the Township of Chatsworth.

The driver had lost control of a grey car, went off the roadway and flipped on to the lawn of a nearby residence. The involved motor vehicle had no license plates and did not have insurance. The driver was not injured.

The driver was arrested for being impaired while operating a motor vehicle and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth for a breath test. The results of the breath test was over the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, a 25-year-old man, from Chatsworth, ON with the following offenses:

  • operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) operation of
  • a motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80, section 320.14(1)(b) CC dangerous operation of
  • a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) CC drive a motor vehicle with no license, section 32(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • drive a motor vehicle with no license plates, section 7(1)(b)(i) HTA drive a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

The accused has been released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.
