Katrina Wood is the owner and lives between Mount Forest and Dundalk in the country.
The idea for this business began with Katrina buying bottled water at the grocery store due to having a high iron content in her well water at home. She recycled the water containers thinking that she was doing her part. She has since learned that only 9% of plastics are actually recycled. She installed a water filtration system in her family's house and didn't buy bottled water again. She then asked herself, "What else can I do differently?" She went to refillery-style stores in Elora and Thornbury to purchase products but left unsatisfied.

"I felt that I didn't get the variety that I wanted and I decided to open my own (store) and started at the St Jacobs Farmers' Market. I opened there last August," explained Wood. The St. Jacobs Farmers' Market store will remain open and Flesherton will be the second location for Eco-Refillary.
"I wanted to open a store locally because I live in the community and it is so needed," explained Wood. She opened the store on Friday, August 28, in Flesherton.

Eco-Refillary's products are all Canadian made, all natural with no synthetic fragrances. Scented products are all made with essential oils and unscented products are also offered. Many makers are based in Ontario.
"When you shop you can bring own container, or you can buy glass containers, and bring it back to refill it. I have mason jars, they can pay a dollar deposit fill it up and bring the jar back for their dollar back," says Wood.
Eco-Refillary sells body and hair care products, make-up, pet shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, cleaners, dish, hand and laundry soap, all purpose cleaner, mouthwash and candles which can also be refilled.
Eco-Refillary is open Wednesday to Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 11-3. Store hours and days may change. Wood plans to have a store grand opening on Friday, September 18. The store is located at the south west corner of Hwy 10 and Hwy 4 in Flesherton.
