A 41-year old man from the Municipality of Grey Highlands was held for a bail hearing for drug related charges following a February 4 report of a suspicious vehicle in the Municipality of Meaford. At approximately 9:11 a.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of the vehicle parked behind a business on Sykes Street North.
While enroute, police observed the suspect vehicle, carrying four occupants, travelling on Sykes Street South. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle identified himself verbally but during the course of the investigation, police found that he had used a flase name. As a result, he was arrested and transported to the Meaford OPP detachment. Drug paraphernalia as well as a quantity of drugs were located on his person resulting in the following charges:
- Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Heroine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
- Driving While Under Suspension (x 2)
