FROM A JUNE 4 OPP PRESS RELEASE — A male driver is facing a charge of Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample following a traffic stop that occurred on May 29, 2019 in Arran-Elderslie.
Just after 8:00 p.m. on May 29, 2019 a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle travelling on Bruce Road 3 at a high rate of speed. A South Bruce OPP officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol.
A 40 year-old man from Chatsworth was arrested and transported to the detachment for further tests. The accused refused to provide a breath sample at the detachment and was subsequently charged with Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample.
He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 26, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton. His driver's license was suspended for an automatic 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
