BY SOUTHGREY.CA STAFF –
This region is blessed with some of the best quality food establishments you’ll find anywhere across Ontario. When you consider that along with the many talented artists and artisans who call it home as well as the sheer beauty of the Bruce-Grey-Simcoe landscape, you have an adventure just waiting to happen.
This year, in honour of Canada’s sesquicentennial, many restaurants, specialty food and artisanal shops will showcase their best, to celebrate 150 years of Canadian confederation.
The event is called Canada-Licious and the fun kicks off on the unofficial first day of summer – Saturday, May 20 – and lasts until the unofficial extended last day of summer, Thanksgiving Day – Monday, October 9, providing you with 150 days to partake of as many culinary delights as you can!
Passports are available throughout the summer at THE FOOD MAPTM locations throughout Bruce, Grey and Simcoe (check the listings and advertisers within this publication) or a pdf version can be downloaded from TheFoodMap.ca.
Participants will have their Canada-Licious passport stamped at any of the participating locations and may enter their stamped passports to win prizes. Entrants require at least 3 stamps to qualify before entering to win great culinary adventure packages including vacation getaways, restaurant certificates and more!
Visit the same website for a list of participating events and locations. Visit THE FOOD MAPTM facebook page or check Twitter @TheFoodMapCA for updates.
Also mark your calendar for August 11-13, as one notable culinary event shares the stage with the 2018 Bruce, Grey & Simcoe landscape calendar artists, showing their works as well as the works of many other talented painters from across the region. This show and sale takes place at the Kimberley Hall in the Beaver Valley against the backdrop of the beautiful Niagara Escarpment.
Enjoy spectacular works of art, delicious samples and a “Sunset Wine & Cheese” gathering on Friday evening.
Accomodations for your culinary getaway are boundless too! Check TheFoodMap.ca for a list of some of the best choices.
Whether you reside in Bruce, Grey or Simcoe counties, have a seasonal property or have chosen to vacation in this beautiful part of the world, you won’t want to miss Canada-Licious!
