Larry Miller has announced that he will not seek re-election in the upcoming federal election with Tara man, Alex Ruff being the first to throw his hat into the ring for Conservative nomination in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.

In a January 18 news conference, Miller said simply that it's time. "I have to admit I've lost the fire in my belly," he said, adding that he will finish out his term and looks forward to fishing and spending time with family.

After 25 years serving Canada in the Canadian Armed Forces, now retired Colonel Alex Ruff has returned to his roots for the opportunity to serve Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound said a January 18 media release.

Ruff said he's considered it a privilege and honour to serve Canada and been proud to represent the Bruce Grey region. "I wouldn’t be where I am today without the early guidance from from my teachers, coaches, community and most importantly my family,” said the 44 year old.

Growing up on a farm, Ruff is no stranger to unique issues facing a rural riding and with multiple postings across the country, he has developed an appreciation for the vast diversity and challenges that face every day Canadians, read the release.

"I’d be honoured to continue my deep commitment to service as the next Member of Parliament in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound where I can put my youth, experience and passion to work ensuring the constituents of this incredible riding are being represented,” said Ruff.
