Robert Burcher, photographer, writer & historical researcher, has been fascinated by early environmentalist John Muir for decades. The discovery of an abandoned historical plaque re Muir launched Burcher’s voyage of discovery. In 1999 a Meaford archaeological dig, run by the “Canadian Friends of John Muir,” discovered the actual cabin site and sawmill where he lived in the 1860s. Considered the 1st American environmentalist, Muir worked with US president Teddy Roosevelt in 1900 to craft the concept of a “National Park”. While working to save the Yosemite Valley of California from lumbering, Muir founded the Sierra Club. Coffee/tea available.
